Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,
the first one said "Oh my it's getting late!"
The second one said "There are witches in the air..."
The third one said "...but we don't care."
The fourth one said "Let's run and run and run!"
The fifth one said "I'm ready for some fun!"
Hoo-hooo went the wind and *out* went the light
and the five little pumpkins...
rolled out of sight!

For fine motor practice, students can draw and cut out their own five little pumpkins (they'll certainly want to add faces to turn them into jack-o-lanterns), glue them to a headband, and add a copy of the song/poem:

I read this to a group of K I subbed for on Friday! :) We took blue paper as the background (and glued a copy of the story onto the back) - then took a green strip and made cuts in it to turn it into grass and glued it on the bottom - then brown paper got into strips and turned into a fence - then orange pumpkins were cut out and glued onto the fences - then green stems were glued onto the pumpkins - and finally faces were added to make our jack-o-lanterns. They turned out SUPER cute!
